Know if you have a preference between the 3 vaccines
There are 3 FDA approved vaccines in the USA, Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. Only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for ages 16+, the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are approved for ages 18+. Therefore anyone that is 16 or 17 can only get the Pfizer vaccine.
Pfizer & Moderna vaccines have 2 doses, the 2 shots are spaced out by 3-4 weeks, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine only has 1 does.
If you do have a preference between the vaccines, book an appointment at a location with the preferred vaccine. You can find out which vaccines are offered where by going to the government’s official website.

Know when to book
For many websites, new appointments are added at 12am local time. Therefore in order to book an appointment, you need to log in at 11:58pm and get yourself ready at the booking page, once the clock hits 12am, refresh the page and book. Most places add new appointments at 12am, some add new appointments at 12:30am, some at 6am, and others at random times throughout the day.
It is very important to know when these new appointments are added so you can book one as soon as they are added. To find out when these appointments are added, join a local vaccine hunter’s Facebook group and many people will post this information in the Facebook group.

Join a local vaccine hunter’s Facebook group
This is the most useful tip, these Facebook groups are amazing and so helpful. Many people post in the group about where they’ve seen open appointments for booking, some people will even help you book the appointment. As well, there will be people looking to reschedule their appointments and asking if anyone wants to take over their appointment. That is how I got my appointment so soon, by taking over someone else’s appointment.

FEMA mobile vaccination clinics
FEMA also has mobile vaccination clinics, and they go around to different towns and vaccinate these communities. The FEMA mobile clinics only carry the Johnson & Johnson vaccine because it is single shot and only requires fridge temperature storage. Know when and where they are so you can sign up. Many people also post these FEMA mobile vaccination clinic announcements in the Facebook groups.

What to bring to your vaccination appointment
Bring your ID and health insurance card, some vaccines locations will ask for your health insurance card, and the last thing you want is to have to rebook the appointment because you didn’t bring your health insurance card. Some vaccine locations limit their vaccines for local residents, therefore you will need to show prove of address in order to be vaccinated at that specific location.

Don’t give up
Keep trying, keep refreshing, and keep looking for open appointments on the Facebook Group and you will get your Covid-19 vaccine appointment!
