Royalton Rivera Cancun Resort & Spa is in all-inclusive resort in Cancun Mexico, on its website it says they have 9 restaurants and 12 bars. Some restaurants were only available to diamond club members and some weren’t open at the time we went, but we dined at all the restaurants that were available to us, and I’ll let you know what I think of the food at each restaurant.

- Grazie Italian Trattoria, Italian Cuisine

Gourmet Marche | International Buffet
The buffet is the only restaurant open for breakfast, so we went there every morning for breakfast. They have lots of options, such as ready to grab items like cereal, sausage and egg or if you are feeling fancy, you can get the chef to custom make an omelet. There are also lots of bread, pastry, desserts and fruits. This this the kids favorite restaurant because they grab whatever they want. There are also lots of drink options, such a milk, chocolate milk, smoothies, and all kinds of difference juices.
Zen, Japanese Cuisine
Zen was the only restaurant that we went twice, once we had teppanyaki on the second floor and once just the regular table on the main floor. Teppanyaki was very fun, the chef put on a show right in front of you and the kids loved watching the chef cook. The sushi at the teppanyaki was good, but the fried rice and the meats are a little salty. The sushi and the teriyaki and the regular table was good, and the dessert was not bad. It was definitely a good sushi restaurant for an all-inclusive resort.
Hunter Steakhouse, Authentic Steakhouse
Hunter Steakhouse is by far the best restaurant we had at the resort. It was also hard to get a reservation here. Next time we go, we will definitely come to the steakhouse twice. Everything we ordered was good, even the salad and the onion soup were very tasty. Petite steak was so amazing, highly recommend. We ordered creme brûlée, cheesecake and ice cream for dessert and all the deserts were amazing delicious as well. This restaurant is very popular so book early!
Taj, Indian Cuisine
I prefer the Americanized Indian Cuisine, such as the butter chicken and naan; so I can’t judge whether this restaurant is authentic or not. I just found everything in this restaurant super sweet, the mango lassie and the pink dessert was all very sweet. It was too sweet for my liking and I didn’t enjoy the taste of the food that much either. Next time I’m not sure that I would go dine at this restaurant.
Grazie Italian Trattoria, Italian Cuisine
Grazie Italian restaurant is very busy during lunch time as there aren’t many restaurants open at lunch time. And that is why the staff are very busy and serve time is slow. We thought their carpaccio was good, but their pasta, pizza and risotto were ok, weren’t amazing.
Scoops Gelato and Caffe Lounge
This is the cutest cafe and we went there for ice cream, gelato, and coffee every single day. There aren’t that many places open in between meal times, so we kind of had to go here for mid afternoon snacks. We love this cafe, they have all kinds of ice cream/gelato, different coffee, latte, as well as cold chocolate (who wants hot drinks in Cancun? LOL), and also have little cakes and sandwiches to go.
Booking Dinner Reservations
Only diamond club members can make dinner reservations ahead of time. Otherwise, you can only make dinner reservations on the day of. cannot make it ahead of time unless you are a diamond club member. They start booking the reservations around 7am and the popular restaurants go fast and so does the popular dinner time spots, if you have kids with a certain bed time or meal time, you gotta go there early to make sure you get the time you want.
There are 2 places to make dinner reservations:
- In front of the Gourmet Marche, International Buffet, there’s a staff in front of the buffet every morning to take dinner reservations.
- At the guest services desk by the front door.
You have to go there in person to book dinner reservations, we tried to call from our room one morning because we slept in and they wouldn’t allow us to book over the phone and I had to walk to the desk to book it. Which is kind of a hassle and I don’t understand why we can’t book through phone.
